Royal Gifts
It was an absolute honour and privilege to have been selected to supply Heritage Crafts with three leather lined Sandringham Oak medallion boxes and my part in a bronze trophy each year for three years.
During those three years HRH Prince of Wales was the President of Heritage Crafts, hence the design.
Heritage Crafts aim to support and promote endangered crafts within the UK. Unfortunately some crafts have already become extinct and many are critically endangered. It is wonderful to have an organisation that is supporting and safeguarding craft skills.
Each year a selected winner received a trophy which featured a 3D bronzed version of HRH Prince of Wales feathers. A piece of carved Sandringham Oak holds the bronze to a Caithness stone base. Caithness stone is used extensively at Balmoral Castle and the Oak was hand selected by myself from the Sandringham estate.
Three bronze medallions were also presented each year to runner ups. Presented inside a bespoke leather lined Sandringham Oak box.
Sean Hedges-Quinn is the artist and incredible sculptor who crafted the bronze works. http://www.seanhedgesquinn.co.uk
It was an amazing honour to make these prizes for some of the best craft practitioner’s in the UK, it was beyond a privilege and utterly terrifying! https://heritagecrafts.org.uk/presidents-award-trophies/
