Project Info:

A rather impressive Oak bookcase standing almost three metres tall and just over five metres wide featuring six bays of shelving, majority of which is adjustable.

Proportions and mouldings were designed to reflect the room and victorian period. A hook on library ladder is a very useful aid with such tall units.

All made from solid Oak and Oak veneered plywood with a stain and lacquered finish including solid brass ironmongery aged by hand.

A few fun statistics about this piece:

  • Bookcase is made up of 572 wooden components
  • Each pilaster is made up of 15 components
  • Within the cornice moulding alone there is 87 visible joints (with more joints hidden behind)
  • Shelving for books totals 41.4 linear metres
  • 500 hours to design, make, finish and install. All of which were very enjoyable!
